    Itinerary of the Tour from Tangier to the Desert

    Day 1: Tangier – Assilah

    Our Tour from Tangier to the Desert begins with a pickup from Tangier’s airport/port. From here, we will drive to our first stop, the magnificent seaside city of Assilah, a modest calm settlement where you will stroll around its white-shaded lanes and refreshing sea. Dinner will be served the hotel where you’ll be staying.

    Day 2: Assilah – Tetouan – Chefchaouen

    We shall resume our Tour from Tangier to the Desert after breakfast. First, we’ll head to Tetouan, which is located at the foot of the beautiful Rif mountains and has an Andalusian influence on its architecture, providing you with a wonderful combination of Arabic and Spanish culture. Before we continue our journey, you will eat lunch here.

    Following that, we will cross the charming Rif mountains to reach the gem of the north, which beautifully sits between the Rif mountains, the colored city of Chefchaouen. In there, you will enjoy strolling around its beautiful blue and white alleys, discovering the best arts and crafts workshops, and ending at the unique square of Utta Elhammam. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be in a typical Riad/hotel.

    Day 3: Chefchaouen – Roman Ruins of Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

    Before we resume our Tour from Tangier to the Desert, you will be able to have a typical breakfast at the riad. Our next stop will be Volubilis, a Roman ruins site from the 25th century BC. You will be given a guided tour.

    Our next stop, not far from the site, is one of Morocco’s four imperial citiies, the Ismaili capital. You will love visiting this city’s gorgeous ancient medina, which has a particular architectural flair, as well as the towering gate of Mansour and the intriguing plaza of Lehdim, where you will eat lunch in a restaurant.

    Later in the afternoon, we’ll take a journey to Fes, Morocco’s cultural center, where you will be having dinner and spending the night at a hotel at the heart of the ancient medina.

    Day 4: A guided tour of Fes

    Our guide will take you on a private tour around this historical city and make sure to show you all its impressive monuments. First, you will get to visit the marvelous gate of the Royal palace. Then, continue to explore the old Jewish headquarter, the first ever in Morocco.

    By digging into the ancient medina, our guide will take you to one of the oldest mosques and universities in the world “El Quaraouine”. You will stop by the Attarine museum which was a location for traders from all over the world. In there, you will see a blend of Arabic and Andalusian arts and crafts. You will pass by tanneries, a palette of colors where the carpets get colored and done.

    You will have lunch at an antique medina restaurant. Following that, we will continue our tour of Fes’ spectacular structures, touring, in the late afternoon, the Marinid’s tombs, with a panoramic view of the historic medina of Fes. Dinner and an overnight stay await you at a hotel.

    Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Forest of Monkeys – Erfoud – Merzouga

    We will continue our Tour from Tangier to the Desert from Fes to a beautiful spot in southern Morocco. We will travel through Ifrane, a lovely city with a distinct European flavor, as we cross the central Atlas Mountains. Leading us to the city of Azrou, the route passes through the greatest Cedar trees in Morocco, elegantly covering the middle Atlas highlands.

    We will arrive at the agricultural capital of the country after crossing the Tizi n’Talghamt mountain pass, where you will have lunch at a local restaurant. We will continue our journey after lunch, travelling through landscapes that shift from green to rocky all the way to Errachidia, where you will have a short tour of this wonderful city.

    After passing through the beautiful Ziz Valley and the palm city of Erfoud, we will arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon, where you will check into a hotel near the dunes. You will be able to prepare for our unique dunes journey here.

    You will swap to camels with our experienced guide, who will lead you on a one-of-a-kind trip through the sandy dunes of Erg Chebbi, beneath a swooning sunset, to put you in the spirit of an old traveler.

    Finally, you will arrive at our traditional camp, where you will be greeted with a traditional meal for supper and a cup of mint tea while listening to Berber music. Spend the night in a nomadic camel hair tent.

    Day 6: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga

    Our guide will wake you up early in the morning so you don’t miss the spectacular sunrise that glows through the dunes. You will eat a classic breakfast while the sun shines on your face and warms your skin.

    Following that, we have planned an enjoyable excursion through Erg Chebbi’s surroundings, where you will meet several Berber nomad tribes that will be delighted to welcome you beneath the shadows of their traditional tents. You will learn more about their unique way of life as well as their culture.

    We will travel to Khamlia, a fascinating village where you will meet the Gnawa tribes and listen to their music. Lunch will be served in a Berber guest house in the village.

    You will have the remainder of the day to explore the neighboring areas or communities. In the evening, we will ride camels back to the camp for dinner and sleep.

    Day 7: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

    We will ride our camels back to Merzouga, where you may shower and rest before continuing our journey. We will go to the little village of Rissani, where you will get the opportunity to explore its market, which attracts nomads, traders, and residents from all over the region.

    We will go via the palm orchards of Touroug and Tinijdad via Erfoud. We will visit one of the most magnificent canyons in the world, the Todgha gorges, which are elegantly cut between rocks by the Dades river and are popular with climbers from all over the globe. Lunch will be served at a nearby restaurant, followed by a trek around the region with our guide.

    Late in the afternoon, we will arrive at the impressive town of Boumalne Dades, where you will spend the night of the Tour from Tangier to the Desert at a hotel.

    Day 8: Dades – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

    After breakfast, we will take you on a tour of the “Hollywood of Africa,” Ouarzazate, where you will see one of the world’s largest film studios, the Atlas studio. Our tour guide will make certain that you see every significant set that has been a part of a global film.

    The Kasbah of Taourirt will be our next stop; it has stood for centuries with its distinctive architecture and magnificent gates. We shall return to the red city of Marrakech after a peaceful stay.

    With a height of 2,260 meters, you will cross the highest mountain pass in North Africa, providing panoramic views of the high Atlas mountains and landscapes studded with little Berber communities.

    Eventually, we will arrive in Marrakech on this afternoon of the Tour from Tangier to the Desert. You will check in at the Riad/hotel you will be staying at (dinner included).

    Day 9: Tour of Marrakech

    This day of the Tour from Tangier to the Desert is dedicated to seeing the magnificent city of Marrakech, including all of its key historical monuments, which you will explore with our guide. Dive into the walled medina’s medieval walls, wander through the old market, which provides a limitless quantity of handicrafts, and pass by the old spices market, which will refresh your nose with infinite scents.

    You will see the Bahia palace, a magnificent example of a Moroccan Riad. You will also get lost in the spectacular Majorelle garden, which has a wide range of Cactus species. Then, we’ll proceed to the magnificent El Koutoubia mosque and the magnificent Menara gardens. After a peaceful stay, we will visit the Saadian tombs and finish the day in Jamaa Elfna.

    Have dinner and sleep in a local Riad for the night.

    Day 10: Marrakech – Airport

    After breakfast, our driver will make sure to get you to the airport, based on your voyage schedule. Here, we will wish you a safe flight and thank you for choosing our company. That’s when our Tour from Tangier to the Desert ends.
