This 3-day Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour connects Fes and Marrakech through Merzouga. The Atlas Mountains, Berber village views, valleys, camel rides, and an overnight stay at a Sahara desert camp are all available to you on this journey.
After picking you up from your Riad or hotel, we’ll head via the Middle Atlas highlands to Ifrane and Azrou. There, we’ll stop on the way to visit the Barbarian Apes in their environment. As you reach Errachidia, you’ll witness views of the Middle Atlas highland and the environment altering to give clues of the desert as you go via the Tizi N’ Talghamt pass to Midelt and down the beautiful Ziz Gorges cut by rock formations.
Following lunch, we’ll carry on to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga via the Ziz Valley. With a drink of mint tea, we’ll ride camels to a Berber campsite in the center of the highest dunes in North Africa, the Erg Chebbi.
In order to put up our Berber tents for our overnight stay, the camel trip from the camp takes around 30 minutes. Beds, sheets, and pillows are provided in the tents. Following supper, we’ll assemble around the campfire to listen to authentic Berber drums played beneath the stars.
We’ll watch the sunrise across the dunes. Following a sumptuous breakfast and a warm shower in the tent, we will have the choice of taking a camel or 4WD back to Merzouga.
On this day, we’ll leave the desert for Tinghir, or “the city of the mountain,” another lovely Berber settlement noted for its palm palms and unusually colored dwellings.
We visit the Todra gorges, which are constructed by 200m-high rock walls, and the Dades Valley, a Berber settlement noted for its steep canyons and vistas of the Atlas Mountains. You’ll be spending the night in a Riad.
By way of the Valley of the Dades and the Valley of the Roses, we will travel until we reach Ouarzazate, where we will stop beside the Kasbah of Taourirt.
After around 25 kilometers, we will arrive at the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site notable for serving as the setting for Hollywood movies such as “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Babel”.
We’ll take the route across the Tizi N-Tichka pass and the stunning scenery of the High Atlas highlands to the “Red City,” Marrakech, where you may say farewell to the Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour.
Embark on this journey to explore the Moroccan Sahara desert and its surrounding towns! Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
