    Itinerary of the Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes

    Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n Tichka – Telouet Kasbah – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate

    Here starts the Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes! In the early morning, we will pick you up from the hotel and travel towards the Hollywood of Africa, Ouarzazate. On our way to Ouarzazate, you will enjoy looking at different panoramic views from the Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass before being in the town of Telouet where we will visit the Kasbah of ‘Pasha Thami El-Glaoui’ a powerful Berber chieftain.

    After we explore the Kasbah and have lunch in a local restaurant in Telouet, we will continue our way to another beautiful Kasbah called the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage. This fortified village is a famous Kasbah not only locally but also globally for it serves as the setting for many international films such, as Gladiator, Prince of Arabia, the Mummy, Jewel of the Nile, and many others.

    Later, we will head to the Hollywood of Africa, Ouarzazate in which we will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt before checking into your accommodation.

    Day 2: Ouarzazate – Skoura – Kelaa M’gouna – Valley of Roses – Dades Gorges – Boumalne – Tineghir – Todra Gorges

    After breakfast, we will leave Ouarzazate towards Skoura where we will visit the Kasbah of Ameridil. As we explore the Kasbah, we will continue our way to Kalaat M’gouna, the city of Roses, through the road of the one thousand Kasbah and the Valley of Roses. We will stop in Kalaat M’gouna to visit some beauty shops to buy some natural products made of roses water.

    Following this, we will drive to Dades Gorges to explore their unique rocks which take the shape of monkeys’ toes. After some time in Dades Gorges, we will head to the town of Boulmane Dades to have lunch. We will continue to Tinghir and then to Todra Gorges, which is a series of limestone river canyons, to enjoy their uniqueness and splendor. The night will be spent in the Kasbah hotel.

    Day 3: Todra Gorges – Tinjdad – Touroug – Erfoud – Erg Chebbi

    After breakfast, we will explore the palm farms surrounding Todra valley as well as enjoy its panoramic views. Then, we will travel to the town of Tinjdad to have lunch in a local restaurant. After, we will drive through several Berber villages such as Touroug, Jorf, and Erfoud where we will stop to visit some fossils and marble workshops.

    Following this, we will continue to the appealing dunes of Erg Chebbi which are called also ‘Merzouga dunes’. As we reach Merzouga, we will rest a bit in the hotel before riding the camels across the desert to sightsee a spectacular sunset on top of the dunes.

    After that, we will ride the camels again to a bivouac where you will be entertained with Berber drums music (singing and dancing) before having dinner and sleeping in tents to end this night of the Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes.

    Day 4: Merzouga – Khamlia – Nomads – Fossil Site

    We will wake you up early to enjoy a fabulous sunrise on the top of a dune before riding the camel back to the hotel where you will have breakfast and take a shower. After you get ready, we will ride our 4×4 cars to go on an exploratory tour in the surrounding villages of Merzouga.

    First, we will visit some black volcanic rocks and marble fossils before being welcomed by a nomad family in their tent to share with them a cup of mint tea and learn about their traditions and costumes. After that, we will drive to Khamlia, which is known as the village of black people coming from Sudan, to visit Dar Gnawa (the house of Gnawa) to enjoy their spiritual music.

    Following this, we will visit a seasonal lake called ‘Dayte Sarji’ to see the birds of Flamingos and other beautiful types of birds. After a lunch break in either Merzouga or Hassi Labied, we will ride the camels to enjoy a beautiful sunset in the middle of the desert. The night will be spent in an Auberge.

    Day 5: Merzouga – Erfoud – Errachidia – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes

    After breakfast, we will drive to the village of Rissani to explore its local souk which is the biggest in the region. After that, we will leave Rissani towards the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco, Fes. On our way, we will stop to visit some fossils and marble workshops in Erfoud as well as enjoy the oasis of Awfous which is the biggest in Morocco.

    Following this, we will continue to Fes passing through Errachidia, Rich, and Midelt where we will have lunch. After, we will head to “the Cedar forest of Azrou” to see, feed and take memorial pictures with its lovely monkeys.

    Our last stop of the Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes will take place in Ifrane or “the Switzerland of Morocco” where we will enjoy its beautiful gardens before checking into your hotel/Riad in Fes.
