Itinerary of the Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech

    Day 1: Fes – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi

Let the Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech begin! Around 8 am, we will pick you up from your hotel or Riad in Fes to travel to the heart of the Moroccan southeastern desert, Merzouga. Along the way, we will stop in different cities and places to capture some of their beauty.

First, we will stop in Ifran “the Switzerland of Morocco” to explore its gardens, parks, and lakes. Then, we will head to “the Cedar forest of Azrou” where we will stop to see, feed, and take memorial pictures with its barbary apes.

After a lunch break in Midelt which is 95 km (58 miles) away from Azrou, we will continue our way to Merzouga via Rich, Errachidia, Awfous oasis, and Erfoud.

By the evening, we will arrive at Merzouga where we will enjoy a fabulous sunset in the Erg Chebbi dunes before accompanying you to the hotel to spend the night.

Day 2: Merzouga – 4×4 Tour of Merzouga – Khamlia – Erg Chebbi

After breakfast, we will take you on an exploratory tour of the surrounding areas of the Erg Chebbi dunes. First, we will drive to Khamlia, a small village inhabited by people coming from Sudan, to visit Dar-Gnawa (the house of Gnawa) to listen to their spiritual Music and share with them a cup of mint tea.

After that, we will visit an Oasis near Merzouga which still preserves an old system of irrigation. Our third visit will take place in the village of Rissani to explore its large souk, Ksours, and Kasbahs. After lunch in Rissani, we will drive back to the hotel to get some rest before riding the camels to explore the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

As we enjoy a marvelous sunset, we will ride the camels again to a bivouac (camp) to spend an unforgettable night full of Berber drums music, singing, and dancing before sleeping in a camel hair tent.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

After sightseeing a beautiful golden sunrise in the middle of the desert, we will have breakfast in the bivouac before riding the camels back to the hotel. Get ready for the day before we leave the hotel towards Erfoud to visit some of its fossils and marble workshops.

Following this, we will head towards Todra Gorges, which is a series of limestone river canyons near the city of Tinghir. In this spectacular place, you will have lunch and free time to walk all around the gorges before leaving for Dades valley where we will spend the night.

Day 4: Dades Gorges – Valley of Roses – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Kasbah Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will stretch our legs in Dades gorges before heading towards Marrakech. Throughout the way, we will stop in Kalaat M’gouna, the Valley of the Roses, and the road of the thousand Kasbahs to allow you to enjoy their splendor and take memorial pictures.

As we reach the Hollywood of Africa, Ouarzazate, we will explore the center of the city as well as visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas studios before driving to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. This fortified village is a famous Kasbah not only locally but also globally for it serves as the setting for many international films such, as Gladiator, Prince of Arabia, the Mummy and so many others.

After having lunch, we will drive to Marrakech through Tizi n Tichka pass. The night will be spent in the hotel/Riad.
