Itinerary of Merzouga 4×4 Desert Excursion

After picking you up from your accommodation, your Merzouga 4×4 Desert Excursion begins. We will first visit Hassi Labied Oasis, which is a garden next to the sandy dunes maintained by the village’s residents. In there, you’ll observe how the villagers bring water out from the dunes to the field that used a conventional watering system.

We explore the Merzouga Lake (a seasonal lake). It’s a hotspot for prominent migrating birds whenever the lake is filled with water. When the lake is dry, we can forgo going there.

We will carry on our journey to Khamlia village, stopping along the route to see an automobile museum. After we reach Khamlia village we’ll stop to join the Gnawa party. The songs are played by local people whose origin is from the Soudan, Mali, and other Subsaharan nations.

Our adventure will continue into the Black Desert of volcanic stones where we will make our first halt at a peak with a spectacular view before moving on to the Mifis Village. It is a historic settlement constructed by the French during colonialism. It also is renowned as the mines village because of the mineral mines, where some Moroccans still operate.

The following destination will be directed to a nomadic family who still resides in tents in the Sahara. We will enjoy a cup of mint tea in the tent and learn about the nomadic way of life in this household.

By the end of the excursion, we will drive across the sand dunes back to Merzouga village or other nearby villages for lunch before we drop you off at your lodge.
