This 7-Day Tour from Rabat will take you to the city’s key attractions, including the Kasbah of Oudayas, the Hassan Tower and the remains of 200 columns, the Chellah, the Mohamed V Mausoleum, the medina, and more!
It allows you to get a true desert experience by riding camels and spending the night in a luxury camp in the heart of the dunes. The Tour from Rabat also shows you around Marrakech as well as some iconic Moroccan tourist spots, such as Ifrane, Ziz Valley, Toudgha and Dades Gorges, Ait Benhaddou Kasbahs, and the Atlas Mountains.
On the first day of the Tour from Rabat, you’ll meet our driver to go sightseeing in Rabat.
Then, you’ll go to Meknes, the Imperial City of Sultan Moulay Ismail, where you’ll see the Medina (old city) and Bab el Mansour, the enormous gateway and primary entry to this 17th-century city.
You’ll also see the Roman remains of Volubilis, Morocco’s most important archaeological site, with its mosaics, temples, and triumphal arch… You’re on your way to the town of Moulay Idriss Zarhoun, the holy founder of Morocco’s first indigenous Islamic state. After that, continue your journey to Fes to check into your hotel.
A guide will take you from your accommodation to the oldest imperial city of Fes for a full day of touring. Explore the Karaouiyne Mosque, whose main aisle is adorned with exquisite floral and Kufic lettering carved into the plaster, and the colorfully tiled Nejarine Fountain, the oldest of the Imperial Cities, established in 790 A.D.
Do not forget to visit the intriguing Islamic universities, such as the El Bou Anania and the Attarine. Finally, visit the souks (markets) of the old Medina of Fes, which are the most intriguing in Morocco.
After breakfast, you’ll depart Fes for the Middle Atlas highlands, passing through Ifrane and Azrou. Make stops at Midelt for spectacular views of the High Atlas Mountains. After lunch, you’ll drive through Er-Rachidia and continue your journey via the spectacular vistas of the Ziz Valley.
In the afternoon, you arrive in the Merzouga desert and settle into your accommodation. The rest of your day is free. Alternatively, if you choose to spend the night like the Bedouins in a camp on the dunes of Erg Chebbi, you will gather around a fire and enjoy your dinner meal and music of traditional Berber drums beneath the stars, filling the sky above you with tranquillity.
Early in the morning, to witness the dawn and experience the Saharan vistas, ride camels to the edge of the Merzouga desert, which has the tallest dunes in North Africa. You will also have the opportunity to listen to Gnawa music at the village of Khamlia.
Then, on the journey to Rissani, you travel through date palm plantations to the ruins of Sijilmassa, a medieval city. This night, we are having dinner at a local restaurant/hotel.
On this day of the Tour from Rabat, you will go to Erfoud to explore the fossil museum (Tahiri Museum of Fossils And Minerals), then to Tinhgir’s palm grove (the largest in Morocco), and finally to the Todra Canyon.
Have lunch at the bottom of the canyon, and then pass the hamlet of Boumalne, the valley of Dades, and the canyon of Dades to spend the night in a hotel.
In the morning, you’ll travel through the Valley of Roses to the Thousand Kasbahs before arriving in Ouarzazate, Morocco’s Hollywood. You will explore the Kasbah Taourirt and spend the night in a city hotel.
After breakfast, you will be driven to the UNESCO World Heritage site and Morocco’s most renowned Kasbah, “Ait Benhaddou,” as well as “Telouet” Kasbah, the historic residence of Marrakech’s Glaoui Pasha. Then, you go to Marrakech, traveling via the 2260 m Tizi-N-Tichka mountain pass to spend the night at your hotel. That ends our 7-Day Tour from Rabat.
