A guided tour of Fes
The city of Fes will be visited on the second day of our 5-day Casablanca to Marrakech Tour. A local guide will accompany us and discuss the history of Fes. We will begin by visiting the Royal Palace, commonly known as Dar al-Makhzen. The Mellah, Morocco’s oldest Jewish quarter, will be our next stop (1438). It’s in Fes El Jdid, in the old territory of Sultan’s Syrian archers. We’ll also visit Borj Nord to obtain a bird’s-eye perspective of the city. We’ll then visit the tanneries and take a tour of the historic Medina. In addition, we will visit the universities of Al Quaraouiyine and Al Bouaanania. By the end of the day, we’ll head back to your hotel/Riad.

Then, we’ll go to Azrou to visit the Barbary macaques in the Cedar forest. You will be able to feed them and photograph them. Later, we’ll traverse the High Atlas Mountains to reach the Ziz Valley. Oued Ziz travels across a vast swath of palm palms. Later in the day, we’ll arrive in Merzouga, Sahara desert. Your camels will be waiting for you, ready to transport you through the Merzouga desert to your camp, where you will dine, listen to Berber music, and spend the night.

This Souk is mostly crowded on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays. Later, we pass through the oasis of Tafilalt, where we can see a historic irrigation system. After that, we’ll have lunch in Tinjdad. We go on to the spectacular Todgha Gorges canyons. They are 1300 meters high and stretch out across 30 kilometers at the foot of the Great Atlas Mountains.
