Day 1 – Fes to Merzouga Sahara desert (Erg Chebbi).

Around eight o’clock, we will pick you up from the hotel/Riad in Fes to travel to the heart of the Moroccan southeastern desert, Merzouga. Along the way, we will stop in several cities and places to capture some of their beauty. First, we will stop in Ifran or “the Switzerland of Morocco” to explore its beautiful gardens, parks and lakes. Then, we will head to “the Cedar forest of Azrou” where we will stop to see, feed and take memorial pictures with its lovely monkeys. Following this, as we have lunch in Midelt which is 95km (58miles) away from Azrou, we will continue our way to Merzouga via Rich, Errachidia, Awfous oasis and Erfoud. By the evening, we will reach Merzouga where we will ride camels across the desert to a bivouac. In the bivouac, you will sightsee a marvelous sunset as well as spend an unforgettable night full of Berber drums music, singing and dancing. Dinner and Breakfast will be served in the bivouac.

Day 2 – Merzouga sahara desert (Erg Chebbi) to Todra Gorges.

In the very early morning, we will wake you up to sightsee an amazing sunrise over a sand dune. Then, we will ride the camels back to the Auberge in Merzouga to have breakfast and take a shower. As you get ready, we will drive to KHAMLIA, which is a small village inhabited by black people coming from Sudan, to visit Dar-Gnawa (the house of Gnawa) to listen to their spiritual Music and share with them a cup of mint tea. After that, we will head to Todra Gorge, which are series of limestone river canyons near the city of Tinghir. In this unique place, you will have the whole evening to explore it on foot. Night will be spent in a close hotel to the Gorges.

Day 3 – Todra Gorges to Fes – Ait hani.

After having breakfast, we will visit two small Berber villages namely Tamtatoucht and Ait Hani. We will stop in these two villages to explore them and have a cup of mint tea or lunch with some of their inhabitants. After that, we will travel to Imilchil via a number of eye-catching views and sceneries. Imilchil, which represents a real symbol of the Berber culture in Morocco, hosted each year a festival, officially known as “the Betrothal Festival”. The legend says that a young man and a girl from two different tribes, in conflicts, fell in love, but were banned to marry or even see each other by their families. This led the two lovers to cry till death, creating two neighboring big lakes near Imilchil called Isli (the groom) and Tislit (the bride). The two families then agreed on establishing a day on which they commemorate the lovers’ death and in this day people from the local tribes could marry each other. Back to the tour, as we explore the town of Imilchil with its two lakes, we will cross the Atlas Mountains towards Fes..
