9-Day Morocco Tour from Tangier to Marrakech via Chefchaouen and Sahara Desert

After breakfast in the Riad, our genuine journey towards Volubilis will begin, passing via Wazan and other Rif settlements. At Volubilis, we will explore the Roman ruins and learn about this Moroccan historical site on our Tour from Tangier to Marrakech. After breakfast in your Riad, you will begin your exploration of Morocco’s oldest city, traveling through its lanes and small streets with a local guide. Our tour begins with a visit to the Royal Palace entrance and the Jewish quarter, the first Mellah ever erected in Morocco in the 16th century. We will make certain that you visit all cultural and historical landmarks, including the famed Al Qaraouine University, the region’s oldest, the Tanneries, the Attarine museum, and the Moulay Idriss tomb. After lunch, you will tour the tiles cooperative and then enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Fes’ Medina.

You will go to Merzouga via Errachidia and Erfoud after breakfast. You’ll be passing via the interesting Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, taking in views of the High Atlas plateau as the environment transforms to give clues of the desert. We’ll stop along the route to visit the wild monkeys and have lunch. As we approach closer to the desert, we’ll make our way via Erfoud and Rissani before landing at Merzouga village in the afternoon. Before checking into your desert hotel, you’ll be greeted with a drink of mint tea. In this peaceful and pleasant village, you may go on your own to view the community garden or walk across the dunes.

Your driver will take you on a desert tour of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes after breakfast in your Riad. In Khamlia hamlet, you will hear the music of the Gnawa people, who are originally from Mali, Senegal, and Sudan. Later, we’ll meet nomad families and learn about their way of life. Our lunch today will be a classic Berber dish (Berber pizza). In the afternoon, we will return to Merzouga’s desert hotel, where you will meet your camels and camel guide. We will have lunch in Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, Morocco’s largest Kasbah, which was erected by T-hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains. The Kasbah is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Following that, we will travel through the high Atlas mountains with panoramic vistas and charming Berber towns until we arrive in Marrakech, where we will spend the night in a traditional Riad.

After breakfast at the Riad, we will begin visiting Marrakech, Morocco’s red city. We will make certain that you see the most important historical and cultural places, such as the Majorelle Gardens, the Koutoubia Tower, the Saadian tombs, and the Bahia Palace. Following lunch at a café near the plaza, you will go through the souks, where you will see hundreds of handicrafts. Day excursion to the beach! After breakfast at your riad, you will depart for the seaside city of Essaouira. You’ll witness the Skala Fortress, Thuya wood carved by artists, wander through the medina alleyways, and see hundreds of handicrafts. This “Wind City” draws surfers from all over the world. Essaouira has seen numerous civilizations, notably the Portuguese occupation, which has left its mark on most of its architecture, yet it remains a little community steeped in history. It is also known as Morocco’s “Jewel of the Atlantic” due to its grandeur and distinctive blue doors and washed walls.
